Hybrid Stress Ribbon Deck Bridges
The hybrid stress ribbon deck bridges have the primary cables to support its weight fixed to the abutments and the secondary ones to introduce prestress fixed to the end blocks united with the upper decks. The struts form the truss structure. The weight of the bridge is supported by the primary cables and the loads on the decks and the live loads are supported by stiffness of the truss girders. This enables to reduce the horizontal force to the abutments by 30 to 40 percent as compared to the conventional structure.
