PC Composite Truss Bridge
Construction of a prestressed concrete (PC) composite truss bridge can reduce manpower for web construction, which is complex and may have construction faults compared with the construction of PC box girders by replacing the web structure with a truss structure.
As with a corrugated steel web PC bridge, it is expected that the effectiveness of introducing PC by changing the concrete web, which has a big constraint force, to a truss web has reduced self-weight due to the steel truss.
Furthermore, the bridge foundation, pier, and load bearing can become smaller because the bridge self-weight is reduced.
Examples of PC Composite Truss Bridge Construction
Overhanging construction with pylons
Fixed support construction
